Here’s the “official/professional” bio:

Amara Wagner is a Holistic Health Counselor and the founder of Amara Wellness LLC, a private holistic health coaching practice in Bergen County, New Jersey. In 2006 Amara started Nourishing Mommies, a home-cooked meal delivery service for new mothers. In addition she offers private cooking classes as well as group support programs for new mothers. Amara is currently the leader for the Bergen County, NJ chapter of the Holistic Moms Network, a national non-profit support and education network for parents. Born and raised in Orange County, New York, Amara now works with numerous clients across the country.

Amara is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is affiliated with Columbia University, and she is accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She has studied with top experts in the field of nutrition and is familiar with a wide range of nutritional theories including Macrobiotics, Atkins Diet, The Zone, Blood Type Diet, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. As a Holistic Health Counselor she employs the various methods as they pertain to her clients’ individual needs.

Before becoming a full-time Holistic Health Counselor, Amara worked at Bon Appétit magazine as head of public relations for over five years. In July 2004, Amara was ordained as a Minister of the Universal Light Church and has since officiated several wedding ceremonies. In June 2003, she completed certification in JMT Health Restoration, Allergy Elimination and Osteoarthritis Pain Resolution from Jaffe-Mellor Associates, Ltd. Amara applies the knowledge from each of these experiences to offer clients a true holistic approach to health that combines physical, nutritional, emotional and spiritual aspects. She is passionate about inspiring her clients to lead extraordinary lives.

Amara Wagner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Baruch College in New York City. She resides New Jersey with her husband John their two young children.

AND here’s the real me...
I am a mom to two small children and that is the most important job I have ever had. Most days, I feel like it is my dream job but some days it is feels like the day will never end. I am incredibly blessed to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom and ALSO run my own business and work with cool, motivated, interesting women. I really am living my dream life (most days ;)

I also have a sister who is fifteen years older than me, and the coolest earth mama I know. When I first got pregnant, she became my go-to resource for how to do things. I knew I wanted to have a natural childbirth and raise my kids as naturally as possible. Since she had already had three natural births and none of her kids had ever needed a medication (not even a baby tylenol, antibiotic..nothing!), I picked her brain whenever possible. It was (and continues to be) so wonderful to have an older sister who has experienced the things I am experiencing. Having the support of an older sister gives me courage to parent in a way that feels right to me and what works for my kids. Having an older sister to encourage me to trust my instincts as a mom and also as a woman has been incredibly empowering. My hope is that I can offer this kind of support to other moms who may not have such a supportive older sister. As mothers we are faced with many decisions and responsibilities. It can be difficult to find resources and support for moms looking to do things differently. Sometimes, it seems easier to do what everyone else is doing, even if it doesn’t feel right. I can help support you, provide resources and information, help connect you to groups and organizations that will rally around you.

I think every woman deserves a big sister to support her. That is what I strive to be to my clients.
